ESTERO, FL – Sebastien Laplante made 28 saves for his second consecutive shutout as the Pee Dee Pride (7-4-1) blanked the Florida Everblades (5-7-0) 2-0 on Friday night in front of 6,978 fans at Germain Arena. After a scoreless first period, Pee Dee drew first blood 8:46 into the second period. Chad Spurr won a faceoff inside the Florida end. Jake Wiegand gathered in the puck behind the net, and centered a perfect feed in front to Allan Sirois who beat goaltender Rob Zepp for his fourth goal of the season. The Pride added to their lead at the 14:50 mark. Spurr and Kevin Cooper executed a perfect give-and-go in the neutral zone and skated into the Everblades' end on a 2-on-1 rush. Spurr found Cooper skating free down the left-wing side, and Cooper one-timed a shot top shelf for his second goal of the season. Pee Dee and Florida meet again at Germain Arena on Saturday. Face off is slated for 7:30 p.m., with all of the action on WDAR Sunny 105.5, starting with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 7:10.
