Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (5-7-0) were shutout by the Pee Dee Pride (7-4-1) 2-0 on Friday night at Germain Arena in the first of five games between the two teams. Pee Dee used a pair of second period goals along with goaltender Sebastien Laplante's second consecutive shutout to hand the Everblades their third straight loss.

After a scoreless first period which was plenty of action in both ends, Pee Dee broke through on Allan Sirois' fourth goal of the season at 8:46 of the middle period when he slipped a shot past Everblades net minder Rob Zepp. The Pride extended its lead to 2-0 at 14:50 of the second period when Kevin Cooper completed a 2-on-1 rush with his second goal of the year. The Pride held the 'Blades to just four shots in the frame, and the lead was enough for Laplante, who made some big saves for Pee Dee in the third period, to pick up the victory.

Zepp suffered the tough-luck loss allowing two goals on 40 Pee Dee shots, but saw his record slip to 3-4-0. Laplante picked up his second shutout of the season stopping all 28 Florida shots, raising his record to 5-2-0. The shutout was Laplante's fourth of his career. Florida finished the night 0-for-5 on the power play and the Pride closed out the night 0-for-4 on the man advantage.

Florida continues their six-game home stand when they take on the Pee Dee Pride on Saturday night, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Florida Everblades magnetic schedule when they enter the building.
