Carolina Mudcats News Release

Chattanooga, TN --- Three pitches were all it took for the Carolina Mudcats to finally dispose of the Chattanooga Lookouts early Monday evening, winning Sunday's rain-suspended game 1-0 at AT&T Field.

The game was suspended with two outs in the last of the ninth on Sunday afternoon with the tying run at second base when the driving rains forced the Mudcats off the field. Carolina (6-8) had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the ninth on a wind-aided double by Rex Rundgren, followed by a two-out single by Lee Mitchell.

Chris Mobley (S, 4) registered the save by retiring Luis Bolivar on a 3-1 slider, hitting a grounder to short to end the game. Mobley started the ninth yesterday, walking Caonabo Cosme with one out, then after Tyrel Godwin fanned, Cosme stole second base before play was halted.

James Russ worked six scoreless innings, permitting just three hits in earning the no-decision. Blake McGinley (W, 3-6) notched the win by retiring the final batter of the eighth inning, lefty Jay Bruce with runners at first and second.

With Carolina's fourth straight win - three via shutout - the Mudcats moved to within three games of first-place Chattanooga with two remaining in the season-series at AT&T Field.

Jesus Delgado (5-5, 5.46) starts the regularly scheduled game at 7:15 PM ET tonight against Carlos Fisher (2-3, 3.29).
