Jacksonville, Fla. - Anthony Raglani hit two homeruns Monday night leading the Jacksonville Suns (52-33, 11-4) to a 6-2 victory over the Mobile BayBears (46-39, 9-6) at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The Suns remain at least tied for first place in the second half South Division race with an 11-4 record. Jacksonville entered Monday tied for first with the Montgomery Biscuits. The Monday victory was Jacksonville's first in the current series against Mobile.
Jacksonville opened the scoring right away against Mobile starter Max Scherzer with a three-run first inning. Kevin Howard singled home Chin-Lung Hu with one out to open a 1-0 lead. Scherzer walked the next two hitters before giving up an A.J. Ellis bases loaded single to right field to score two runs and open a 3-0 advantage.
Mobile got on the board in the third inning when Javier Brito hit a two-out single off of Suns starter Mike Megrew scoring Emilio Bonifacio to cut the Suns lead to 3-1.
Jacksonville leftfielder Anthony Raglani hit a two-out, solo homerun in the third inning off of Scherzer to open the lead again to three runs at 4-1. Mobile cut the lead down to two runs again in the fifth inning when Javier Brito again singled home Emilio Bonifacio with two out to make it a 4-2 Suns lead.
Mike Megrew left the game after a five inning start, making way for reliever Ramon Troncoso who proceeded to pitch three perfect innings with five strikeouts. On the other side Mobile starter Max Scherzer allowed a leadoff bunt single from Juan Gonzalez in the fourth, but sat down the next nine hitters in a row to end his night after six innings.
Osbek Castillo entered the game in the seventh inning in relief of Scherzer, but in the eighth inning Alberto Concepcion hit a leadoff single. Anthony Raglani followed with his second homerun of the evening, a line drive shot into the right field bleachers to end the scoring at 6-2.
