Carolina Mudcats News Release

Jacksonville, FL -- Todd Frazier hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to break a scoreless game, lifting Carolina to its third straight victory, 2-1 over the Jacksonville Suns at the Baseball Grounds.

Thursday's game was the opener of a doubleheader, but after a two-hour, six-minute rain delay before the opening pitch of game one, coupled with a three-hour, 16-minute game time, the second game was pushed back to Saturday night.

Frazier belted Adalberto Mendez's (L, 2-4) first pitch over the left field wall after Juan Francisco walked to start the inning. Sean Watson (W, 2-4) pitched a scoreless second inning to earn the victory.

Scott Cousins homered against Watson in the last of the 11th to pull the Suns (11-6) to within 2-1.

Carolina (6-11) won its third straight after a 3-11 start to the second half, but remained 6 1/2 games behind first-place West Tenn in the Northern Division.

Travis Wood lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.29 with seven scoreless innings, and extended his scoreless streak over the Suns to 24 1/3 innings, working seven scoreless with nine strikeouts.

Carolina continues its series with the Suns Friday night at 7:05 PM ET.
