WASHINGTON, PA - Billy Mottram went for the cycle in his last four at-bats and the Florence Freedom hammered the baseball all night long winning 15-5 over the Washington Wild Things Tuesday night.

After starting 0-2, Mottram hit his first triple of the season to right center to drive in two in the third. He singled in his next at-bat in the fifth. At the plate again in the seventh, Mottram hit his league leading fifteenth home run of the season, a two run blast.

Sitting a double away from the cycle in his last time to the plate, Mottram came through and sent a blast over Chris Sidick's head in center field in the eighth for an RBI.

The cycle was the Frontier League's first in 2009 and the last to do it was Brad Miller of Traverse City in September of last season. Mottram is now 9-18 with five home runs and 11 RBIs against the Wild Things in four games this season.

The second baseman was helped offensively by Erold Andrus' three doubles and four RBIs, as well as Johnny Welch going 2-5 including his sixth home run of the season.

All nine Freedom starters scored a run against the Wild Things pitching. Florence took the lead for good with a six run third inning to take an 8-3 advantage.

Everett Saul allowed two two-run homers to Ernie Banks but got enough support offensively to pick up his fifth win of the season. Sitting now at 5-1, Saul leads the Freedom staff in wins. Jason Neitz (4-2) took the loss as he allowed eight runs in 2.2 innings.

The Freedom (19-17) send Andy Clark (2-3) to the hill Wednesday night for game two of their series against the Wild Things. Listen to the Freedom live on the road at 106.7 FM WNKR.
