Wild Things Can't Overcome Big Inning, Lose15–5 to Florence Freedom

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, (15-22) presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, lost to the Florence Freedom 15-5 in the opening game of the three game series at Consol Energy Park.

The Freedom struck first to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning but the Wild Things quickly stormed back in the bottom half when Chris Sidick scored on a double by Jacob Dempsey. Ernie Banks followed with a two-run shot to put Washington up 3-1.

Banks delivered again in the bottom of the third with another two-run homerun trying to rally his team back into the game pushing the score to 8-5.

Despite a strong performance by Banks, the Wild Things weren't able to overcome a six-run third inning by the Freedom.

Washington starter Jason Neitz took the loss lasting two and two thirds innings allowing eight earned runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out two.

The Wild Things will take on the Freedom Wednesday for the second game of the series. Broadcast on WJPA 95.3 FM begins at 6:55 with the first pitch coming at 7:05.
