June 30, 2009 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford RiverHawks News Release
LOVES PARK, Ill. - Fans have a chance to save money, get soaked and get shirts, all in the span of just three days.
The RiverHawks open a three-game homestand against the Gateway Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. Games are also scheduled for 12:05 p.m. Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
The series opener features a Two-For Tuesday. Tickets are two for the price of one and hot dogs are two for the price of one.
The middle game of the series is the annual Big Splash Spectacular. The stadium becomes a water park for the day, filled with water guns, water balloons, water slides and more.
The series finale is annually the top-drawing game of the season. This year's pre-Independence Day game features a premium giveaway, dollar beers, postgame fireworks and a jersey auction.
The first 1,000 through the gate receive a RiverHawks patriotic red, white and blue t-shirt, courtesy of the Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin. All night long, it's a Miller Lite/104.9 - the X Dollar Beer Night. Rock Valley College sponsors the biggest postgame fireworks show of the year. The RiverHawks will wear special patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game.
The same promotional whirlwind resulted in a RiverHawks-record sellout crowd of 6,588 last year. The last game before the July 4 weekend has been a sellout for years, so fans are advised to purchase tickets in advance and to arrive early to avoid traffic.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com. Most games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380, and on the team website.
