February 18, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose (25-22-3-2) closed out their six-game homestand with a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals (23-21-9-1) on Sunday afternoon at Bell MTS Place. After the teams combined for 11 goals in Sunday's matchup, Monday's rematch got off to a slower start with a scoreless first. Both clubs had a pair of chances on the power play, but couldn't find a way past the netminders. Mikhail Berdin made six saves for the Moose in the frame.
The game remained scoreless until the midway point of the contest when the Moose broke things open with two goals scored 52 seconds apart. Nelson Nogier struck first at 10:07 when his point shot redirected in off a Milwaukee defender. Seconds later, the Moose cut through the Admirals on the rush as Seth Griffith and Jansen Harkins combined to set up Logan Shaw for a tap-in and a 2-0 lead. At the other end of the ice, Berdin turned away 12 shots to keep the Moose up by two heading to the break.
Milwaukee wasted no time in the third, cutting the lead in half as Alexandre Carrier scored 64 seconds into the period. The visitors kept up the pressure, but Berdin held the line, making 11 saves in the final stanza. With the Admirals goalie on the bench, the Moose caught a break when Milwaukee put the puck all the way down the ice and into their own empty net. Logan Shaw was credited with his second goal of the game for a 3-1 Moose lead. The insurance was needed as Milwaukee struck again with 32 seconds remaining, courtesy of Tyler Gaudet's redirect. That was as close as the Admirals came as the Moose picked up the 3-2 win.
