Syracuse Mets News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce that outfielder Tyler Moore has been named the International League Batter of the Week for the period of July 29-August 5. Moore becomes the second consecutive Syracuse player to win the award, with the Chiefs collecting their fourth Batter of the Week honor this season (Zach Walters, June 10-16 and July 22-28; Chris Rahl, June 17-23).

Tyler Moore hit .308 this week with seven extra-base hits and a whopping 13 RBI, five more than any other International League player. Moore led the Chiefs to a 9-8 victory last Monday, clubbing two home runs (including a tie-breaking blast in the 9th inning) while driving in six runs altogether. He nearly matched that performance four days later when he singled in a run, doubled in a run, and hit a three-run homer at Rochester. Moore has now hit seven home runs with 33 RBI in 33 Triple-A games this season.

26-year-old Tyler Moore is in just his second season playing above the Double-A level. The former Carolina League MVP has appeared in 117 games with the Washington Nationals over the past two years. Moore is a native of Laurel, Mississippi.
