Published on August 5, 2013 under International League (IL1) News Release

The International League announced today that Syracuse outfielder Tyler Moore and Gwinnett pitcher Yohan Flande have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from July 29-August 5. Moore becomes the fourth Batter of the Week this season from Syracuse, following Zach Walters (June 10-16 and July 22-28) and Chris Rahl (June 17-23), while Flande is Gwinnett's second Pitcher of the Week of 2013, joining Tim Corcoran (May 20-26).

TYLER MOORE, Syracuse Chiefs IL BATTER OF THE WEEK

Syracuse slugger Tyler Moore hit .308 this week with seven extra-base hits and a whopping 13 RBI, five more than any other International League player. Moore led the Chiefs to a 9-8 victory last Monday, clubbing two home runs (including a tie-breaking blast in the 9th inning) while driving in six runs altogether. He nearly matched that performance four days later when he singled in a run, doubled in a run, and hit a three-run homer at Rochester. Moore has now hit seven home runs with 33 RBI in 33 Triple-A games this season.

26-year-old Tyler Moore is in just his second season playing above the Double-A level. The former Carolina League MVP has appeared in 117 games with the Washington Nationals over the past two years. Moore is a native of Laurel, Mississippi.

YOHAN FLANDE, Gwinnett Braves IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Left-hander Yohan Flande led the International League with 17.0 innings pitched this week, winning twice while allowing just 11 hits with no walks along the way. The part-time reliever had worked just one outing longer than 6.0 innings this season before tossing a complete game last Monday afternoon in Charlotte. Flande allowed three runs, the first of which was unearned with the last two coming in the 9th as he closed out the 8-3 victory, giving the G-Braves their first 9-inning complete game of the season. He was nearly as dominant yesterday while providing the Braves with their first victory in Durham in ten tries in 2013. Flande worked 8.0 innings of one-run baseball, allowing just three hits while posting a season-high eight strikeouts. He is now Gwinnett's leader with seven victories.

27-year-old Yohan Flande is in his third season pitching for the Gwinnett Braves after signing with the organization in 2011 as a free agent. Flande is a native of El Seibo, Dominican Republic.
