Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in game three of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd and Red Sox have both won a game this series. The Bisons will also host the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders after Wednesday's off day.

vs. the PawSox

The Bisons are 5-5 against the PawSox this year, with the Herd holding a 4-2 edge at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons are 68-60 overall against the Red Sox at home since 1998. After this series, the two teams will play one last time in Pawtucket from August 17-20.

The Race is On

After last night's loss the Bisons now trail the PawSox by a game and a half for the International League's lone wild card spot. They still trail Rochester by 3.5 games in the IL North race, after the Red Wings lost to Syracuse yesterday, 5-4.

On the bump

RHP CHIEN-MING WANG will take the mound tonight for his sixth start of the season with the Herd. The veteran lost to Columbus on July 31 despite allowing just there runs on six hits over 7.0 innings of work. Wang has thrown at least 6.0 innings in four of his five outings with the Bisons.

Familiar Foes

The Bisons are 28-22 against the International League North Division. Their .560 winning pct. is better than any of their divisional foes. All 30 of the Herd's remaining games are against the IL North.

Mr. 300

Bisons manager MARTY BROWN has 296 wins with Buffalo, just four wins shy of becoming the first modern era manager to reach 300 victories. Brown posted a 238-193 record in three seasons with the Bisons, 2003-2004. He already has the 7th most wins in the 128 professional seasons of baseball in Buffalo.

Bisons Bits

INF MAURO GOMEZ leads the IL with 28 home runs, and is T3rd in all of minor league baseball. Gomez also is 4th in the IL with 46 extra-base hits...OF ANTHONY GOSE has 15 outfield assists, tied for the most among all International League outfielders...INF LUIS JIMENEZ won the Bisons annual Home Run Derby last night with 15 homers.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (51-60) defeated the Angels yesterday 6-5. The Blue Jays scored two in the ninth off RBI-singles from INF JOSE BAUTISTA and INF EDWIN ENCARNACION The Blue Jays face Seattle tonight at 10:10 p.m.
