Hens Drop Series Finale with Columbus, 6-3

The Toledo Mud Hens fell short in their series finale with the Columbus Clippers, 6-3, Monday night at Fifth Third Field. The Hens were unable to recover from Columbus' four-run first, despite a stellar platoon performance from the bullpen.
Jair Jurrjens struggled in his second start of the season for the Hens, as he allowed six runs on nine hits through three innings in the loss.
Robbie Weinhardt took the mound in the fourth and was able to still the Clippers' bats while keeping Columbus off the scoreboard for 2 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old has not surrendered a run in his last five appearances, in which he has totaled 14 1/3 innings of work.
Offensively, Toledo made several efforts to cut Columbus' lead, with one-run outputs in the first, second and seventh innings. Danny Worth was 2-for-5 on the night with a double and extended his season-long hit streak to nine games.
The Hens will have the opportunity to exact a measure of revenge against the Clippers tomorrow night, as the instate rivals will play the first of a two-game series in Columbus, Tuesday at 7:05. RHP Jose Alvarez, Toledo's winningest pitcher with a 7-5 record and 2.68 ERA, is scheduled to take the mound.
