Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- Leading 4-0 in the top of the sixth, the Carolina Mudcats served up their second biggest inning in franchise history, as the Montgomery Biscuits scored 10 runs to punish the Mudcats 12-7 before a season-best crowd of 7,629 fans at Five County Stadium.

Josh Ravin carried a two-hit shutout into the sixth before an infield single and three walks began the dismantling. Kyle McCulloch relieved the 4-1 Carolina lead and surrendered a grand slam on his first pitch to Cole Figueroa, and then a solo blast to Henry Wrigley two pitches later. Trailing 6-4 at that stage, the Biscuits (25-22) reassembled for another five runs in the inning against McCulloch and Tim Hamulack.

The largest inning against the Mudcats was when the Huntsville Stars scored 13 runs in 2007 at Five County.

Carolina (20-26) took a 2-0 lead against Clayton, NC native Chris Archer in the first when Henry Rodriguez doubled home Quintin Berry, then scored on a wild throw to third base on a steal. Cody Puckett then hit his first home run since late June in the fifth to boost the lead to 4-0.

The Mudcats have dropped the first two games in the series, and fell 7 1/2 behind first place Chattanooga with 23 to play in the regular season.

The series continues on Saturday night at 6:15 PM ET with Justin Lehr (0-1, 3.74) starting against Shane Dyer (6-7, 4.67).
