TODAY'S GAME: Today, the Generals look to win their 5th straight game and it would give them their 3rd straight series won. Jackson continues to be dominant against the Stars at Pringles Park, 7-0, and 8-4 overall against Huntsville. The Generals have won 7 of 10 and find themselves 3-back of Chattanooga in the overall standings and 6-back, in 3rd place in the North Division.

JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Generals won their fourth straight game Friday night, 11-6 over the Huntsville Stars at Pringles park, taking a 2-0 series advantage. James Paxton provided his second straight 10-strikeout performance, winning his second straight game. Jackson improved to 7-0 at Pringles Park against the Stars and 8-4 overall against the Brewers Double-A affiliate. Paxton (3-0) tossed a career high seven innings to get the win, striking out 10 and walking none, scattering just four hits and giving up one run. Paxton now has three double-digit strikeout performances with Jackson and six combined with his numbers at A- Clinton. Kyle Heckathorn (0-4) lost his fourth straight, giving up eight runs (six earned) and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. Francisco Martinez drove in the first four Jackson runs of the night, finishing 2-for-5, with a home run and four RBI's. Vinnie Catricala crossed the plate four times Friday and was 2-for-4, with two more doubles and two RBI's. Scott Savastano, Luis Jimenez and Johemyn Chavez had two hits apiece. Gabriel Noriega, playing in just his third Double-A game was 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: Vinnie Catricala has recorded 11 multi-hit games, batting .390 (32x82) with 18 runs scored, 15 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 10 RBI. His .390 average during this stretch currently ranks 2nd in the Southern League. Scott Savastano has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games, batting .304 (14x46) with 6 runs scored, 5 doubles and 2 RBI. Rich Poythress extended his hit streak to 7 games, batting .367 (11x30) with 4 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run and 4 RBI.

VINNIE BE HITTIN: Vinnie Catricala has recorded 40 doubles split between Jackson and A+ High Desert, ranking 7th among full-season minor leaguers. The Mariners 10th round pick in 2009 out of the University of Hawai'i is batting .355 (156x439) with 62 extra base hits combined this season.

BACK-TO-BACK': LHP James Paxton has made a bid to be a back-to-back recipient of the Southern League Pitcher of the Week honor after another 10K performance in 7 shutout innings Friday. In Paxton's last 2 starts he is 2-0, with a 0.68 ERA, 20 K's, 2 walks in 13.2 IP.

TODAY'S STARTER: LHP Jimmy GIllheeney starts tonigh for Jackson, and makes his first start against the Stars. Gillheeney made 20 starts for A+ High Desert before being promoted to AA Jackson. Gillheeney is 6-6 combined this season, in 22 starts with a 5.48 ERA in High Desert and Jackson. He has made 6 AA starts in '10 and '11 (1-3, 6.91).

EXTRA EXTRA: After playing their second straight extra inning game last night, the Generals are now 7-6 in extra inning games this season. Last night's 14 inning game was the 2nd longest of the season in innings and length, lasting 4 hours 35 minutes.

TODAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY: 1969 - Jim Palmer of the Orioles, plagued by arm trouble the year before, pitched an 8-0 no-hitter against the Oakland A's in Baltimore. 1979 - Lou Brock collects his 3,000th career hit, a single off Dennis Lamp, as the Cardinals top the Cubs 3-2.
