Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Hector Gimenez, who was activated off of the disabled list just before the start of the game, showed no signs of rust. Serving as the Lookouts' designated hitter, he collected four hits, including two home runs, and five RBIs to lead the Lookouts to a 6-3 win over Birmingham in Saturday night action at AT&T Field. After three innings of offensive futility, both teams finally entered the scoreboard in the fourth frame. Jake Oester did the damage for Birmingham by clearing the bases on a bases-loaded double, while Chattanooga's Hector Gimenez hit a missile over the Budweiser Pavilion in right field with a man on to put the score at 3-2. The Lookouts waited until the seventh inning to mount a game-changing rally. With one out on the board, Elian Herrera reached first on an infield single. Alfredo Silverio then hit a towering fly ball to the warning track; however left fielder Christian Marrero, who was under the fly ball, muffed the catch, allowing Herrera to reach third and Silverio to second. Jake Lemmerman then hit a sacrifice fly to plate Herrera. After a fielding error by second baseman Alden Carrithers, Gimenez blasted his second homer of the game to put the Lookouts up, 6-3. Cole St. Clair pitched a perfect eighth, while Steven Ames struck out the side in the ninth to earn his fifth save of the season, preserving the win for the Lookouts in the process. Chris Withrow (4-6) earned the win for the Lookouts. In seven innings of work, he yielded three runs on five hits and four walks, while striking out five. Brandon Kloess (3-2), who pitched the seventh inning for the Barons, took the loss. The Chattanooga Lookouts and Birmingham Barons will continue their five-game series at 2:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
