Cleveland Monsters News Release

The Lake Erie Monsters (17-20-0-3) fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs (20-17-0-4) by a 6-2 score Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena before a crowd of 10,577. Paul Carey and Brett Clark scored goals for the Monsters. The Monsters have dropped seven straight games, and head on the road to take on the Toronto Marlies Sunday at 5:00 PM.

Hamilton's Sven Andrighetto opened the scoring at 5:45 of the first period, but Carey countered to tie the game at 1-1 for the Monsters with his sixth goal of the season. Carey took a pass from Brad Malone and snapped a wrist shot from the high slot past Hamilton goalie Robert Mayer at 7:02 of the opening frame. Karl Stollery also assisted on the goal.

Christian Thomas scored for Hamilton at 8:42 of the first period to give Hamilton a 2-1 lead, but again, the Monsters wasted little time in responding. Clark scored his third goal of the season with the Monsters on a power play when he snapped a puck top-shelf from the slot at 12:24 of the first period; Colin Smith and Carey assisted on the goal.

Joonas Nattinen scored for Hamilton to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead at 12:36 of the period; a lead that carried into the first intermission.

Hamilton added two more goals in the second period- one from Joel Chouinard and one from Martin St. Pierre- and Gabriel Dumont scored in the third period to seal a 6-2 win for Hamilton.

Calvin Pickard stopped 30 of 36 shots in the loss; he is 9-11-2. Robert Mayer is 4-7-2 after the win, in which he stopped 28 of 30 shots.

The Monsters visit Toronto Sunday at 5:00 PM, and the game airs live on ESPN 850 WKNR.
