Cleveland Monsters News Release

Two goals allowed in the first 5:02 of the second period ultimately shifted the momentum away from the Lake Erie Monsters (20-22-0-4) Friday evening, as the Monsters fell 4-1 to the San Antonio Rampage 18-21-3-5) before a Quicken Loans Arena crowd of 8,332. Stefan Elliott scored the lone goal for the Monsters, while Mitchell Heard and Garrett Meurs collected assists in the game. Sami Aittokallio stopped 30 shots in net for the Monsters, who have a rematch against San Antonio scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Saturday at The Q.

San Antonio's Ryan Whitney scored on a one-timer from the left circle at 15:01 of the first period on a power play. The goal gave the Rampage a 1-0 lead through one period.

Vincent Trocheck and Quinton Howden scored for the Rampage at 3:18 and 5:02 of the second period, giving San Antonio a 3-0 lead that would hold into the third period before Elliott put the Monsters on the board. At 10:48 of the third period, a puck darted to Elliott at the top of the right circle, and Elliott quickly fired it top-shelf past Rampage goalie Michael Houser. The goal was the seventh of the season for Elliott, and was assisted by Heard and Meurs.

Joey Crabb secured the win for San Antonio with an empty-net goal at 19:01 of the final frame.

Aittokallio stopped 30 of 33 shots for the Monsters; he is 9-10-1 in net. Houser stopped 19 of 20 Monsters shots; he is 7-5-0 on the season.

The Monsters and Rampage meet again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at The Q.
