
Falcons Top Crunch, Win Second Straight

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (30-12-1-4) defeated the Syracuse Crunch by the final score of 4-2 Friday night at the MassMutual Center. The win was the team's second straight, both coming at home.
Springfield got goals from four different players. Lukas Sedlak gave the team a 1-0 lead at the 13:00 mark of the first period. The Falcons are now 21-2-0-2 when scoring the game's first goal.
Jean-Francois Jacques notched the game-winning goal at 1:56 of the third period, giving the Falcons a 3-1 advantage over Syracuse. For Jacques, the goal was his sixth of the season and third game-winner. The Montreal, Quebec native also chipped in with an assist, finishing the game with two points and a +1 rating.
Jack Skille and Michael Chaput scored the other two Springfield goals, while Jonathan Marchessault chipped in with two assists. Marchessault leads the team with 34 points, 13 goals and 21 assists this season.
Jon DiSalvatore scored both of Syracuse's goals, finding the back of the net at 15:24 of the second period and 7:40 of the third period.
Springfield netminder Mike McKenna made 27 saves on 29 shots, improving to 12-5-0 this season. Crunch goaltender Allen York, who played for the Falcons a season ago, stopped 23 of 27 shots, falling to 3-3-3 this season.
Neither team converted on the power play. Springfield went 0-for-2, while Syracuse went 0-for-3.
The Falcons hit the road to take on the Crunch in Syracuse Saturday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. and the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, February 9 at 3:05 p.m. The team returns to the MassMutual Center Friday, February 14 to host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m.
