LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Norfolk (11/14): The Manchester Monarchs fought their way back for a win in their fourth consecutive home shootout for a 5-4 victory over the Norfolk Admirals at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Center Gabe Gauthier, right wing Trevor Lewis, left wing Matt Moulson and right wing Teddy Purcell found the back of the net during regulation for the Monarchs. Purcell and left wing Vladimir Dravecky capitalized in the shootout for the win. Left wing Juraj Simek, center Paul Szczechura and left wing Radek Smolenak (2) scored for the Admirals. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Bernier earned the win with 17 saves throughout regulation and four saves on four shots in the shootout. Admirals' netminder Karri Ramo took the loss stopping 28-of-32 shots. Manchester went 0-for-6 on the power play. Norfolk was 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

Vs. Norfolk (11/15): With less than five seconds remaining in the game, the Norfolk Admirals' captain center Zenon Konopka scored into an open net to sail past the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Right wing Teddy Purcell picked up the lone goal for Manchester. Right wing Brandon Bochenski put the Admirals on the scoreboard first with his fourth goal of the season. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Quick took the loss stopping 25 shots. Admirals' netminder Mike McKenna earned the win stopping 19-of-20 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Norfolk was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

Manchester is ranked seventh in the Atlantic Division after 12 games with a record of 3-6-0-3 and nine points.

The Monarchs' shootout win against the Norfolk Admirals on Friday night ended their five-game winless streak (0-2-0-3).

Manchester has earned at least a point in five of their last six home games (2-1-0-3).

Starting Wednesday, the Monarchs embark on a five-game, 11-day road trip to Hamilton, Rochester, Lake Erie, Chicago and Grand Rapids. Manchester takes a two-game road losing streak into their first of two five-game road trips this season.

The Monarchs are ranked 28th in the AHL on the power play. The team is 6-for-71 with the man advantage for an 8.5-percent rating.

Manchester is ranked 26th in the AHL on the penalty kill. The team has stopped their opponent 56 times on 70 opportunities for an 80.0-percent rating.

Manchester is undefeated in regulation on Fridays this season. The Monarchs are 3-0-0-1 on Fridays.

When the Monarchs score first, they gain a point. Manchester is 2-0-0-3 in the five games where they have scored first.

Manchester also earns a point when they have the lead following both the first period (2-0-0-3) and the second period (2-0-0-1).

When playing East Division opponents, the Monarchs have gained a point in three out of four games. They are 2-1-0-1 with a win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on October 24, a shootout loss to Philadelphia on November 7 and a shootout win over Norfolk on November 14. The one game the Monarchs dropped was a 2-1 decision to Norfolk on November 15.

Center Gabe Gauthier (3-8=11) leads the Monarchs in scoring with 11 points.

Gauthier is ranked in seventh place on the Monarchs all-time assist list with 73 assists in 142 games. He moved past right wing Brad Smyth (70) and defenseman Tomas Zizka (71) with his two assists on Sunday. He is also ranked 10th on the Monarchs all-time goals list with 40 tallies and ninth in scoring with 113 points.

Left wing Trevor Lewis (3-6=9) ranks second on the Monarchs after 12 games with three goals and six assists for nine points.

Lewis has scored a point in seven out of the 12 games he has played in this season.

Reigning AHL Rookie of the Year right wing Teddy Purcell moved into third place on the Monarchs with eight points (4-4=8) in 12 games. Purcell was held scoreless in the five games prior to Friday's 5-4 shootout win over Norfolk when he collected two points (1-1=2). He also scored the lone goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss o Norfolk.

Right wing David Meckler (4-2=6) is tied with Purcell for the Monarchs scoring lead with four goals in 12 games.

Left wing Vladimir Dravecky (1-5=6) is tied with Meckler for fourth on the Monarchs with one goal and five assists for six points.

Dravecky shares the Monarchs lead with Gauthier and defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov in the plus/minus category. Each player has a rating of plus-4.

Defenseman Davis Drewiske leads Monarchs blueliners with five points (0-5=5).

Left wing Matt Moulson has collected three goals and one assist for four points in four games since he was assigned to Manchester by Los Angeles on Monday, November 3.

Moulson is ranked sixth in the Monarchs all-time record books for goals with 56. He is also ranked eighth all-time with 117 points since he joined the team during the 2006-07 season. Moulson is also tied for seventh place with an all-time plus/minus rating of plus-34.

Right wing Kevin Westgarth's team leading 55 penalty minutes are tied for eighth place in the AHL. He is also ranked ninth in the Monarchs all-time penalty minutes category with 290 penalty minutes over the parts of three seasons.

Left wing Paul Crosty is ranked seventh all-time on the Monarchs with 356 penalty minutes over the last three seasons.

MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS

11/3/08 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) assigned left wing Matt Moulson to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).
