Two Nail-biters Help Devils Gain Point

Tuesday, Norfolk 4 vs. DEVILS 3

The Devils fell to Norfolk, 4-3, at the Tsongas Arena thanks to a goal with 1:19 left in regulation scored by Admirals center Zenon Konopka. The Devils would draw first blood at 4:07 of the second period on a power play goal by Chad Wiseman. After each team lit the lamp, the stanza would end 3-2 in the Admirals' favor after Jamie Heward and Paul Szczechura scored 16 seconds apart. Vladimir Zharkov would tie the score at three for the Devils at 8:17 of the final frame, but Konopka's late tally would be the difference.

Saturday, Albany 3 vs. DEVILS 2 (SO)

Lowell watched their winless streak extend to seven games as the Albany River Rats defeated the Devils, 3-2, in a shootout on Saturday at the Tsongas Arena. With the score 1-1 after the first, Trevor Kell would break the knot with just 46.6 left in the second period on his first goal of the year. The River Rats would have an answer with Joe Jensen's marker 2:26 into the third, sending the contest through overtime and into a shootout. Albany goalie Justin Peters denied Patrick Davis' bid to extend the shootout with a blocker save in the bottom half of round five.

In the Standings

The Lowell Devils (4-7-1-2) now sit alone in sixth place in the Atlantic Division. The Worcester Sharks are just a point ahead of the Devils, having pulled into the fifth spot with a record of 6-8-0-0. At 7-4-2-1, the Springfield Falcons have inched two points ahead of the Hartford Wolf Pack (7-6-0-1) into third place. The Providence Bruins remain in second with a record of 9-5-1-0, while the Portland Pirates (11-1-1-0) still hold the division lead and have yet to see a loss this November. The Manchester Monarchs remain in the last spot at 3-6-0-3.

Around the Horns

G Jeff Frazee made 39 saves in just his third career start in a shootout loss against Albany on Saturday. It was the sixth time this season a Devils goalie has made 30+ saves in a game... RW Jon DiSalvatore has amassed five points (2g, 3a) over his last three games...LW Chad Wiseman is riding a three-game point streak, compiling a goal and two assists.

Coming Up

The Devils begin their three-game, three-day weekend on Friday at the XL Center with their first meeting of the season versus the Hartford Wolf Pack. Lowell has an all-time record of 7-7-1-1 versus the Wolf Pack and was 2-5-1-0 against them last season. Hartford battles the division-leading Portland Pirates on Wednesday before taking on the Lowell Devils on Friday. RW Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau is the Wolf Pack's leading scorer with eight goals and eight assists and is currently on a six-game point streak (5g, 6a).

The Devils will return home to host the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday afternoon at the Tsongas Arena. The Admirals are in sixth place in the Eastern Division with a record of 5-7-1-3. This game will be the last of Norfolk's current seven-game stint through the Atlantic Division, during which they are 2-1-0-1. Norfolk opened the road trip with a 4-3 win over the Lowell Devils on November 11.

Lowell battles the Springfield Falcons for the fourth time this season on Sunday at the Tsongas Arena. Lowell is 1-2-0-0 versus the Falcons so far this year and is 9-11-1-2 in the all-time series. Springfield plays the Norfolk Admirals and the Providence Bruins on their home ice this week before traveling to Lowell. Lowell lost to the Falcons, 3-2, in their last meeting at the Tsongas Arena on November 1. Netminder Devan Dubnyk currently leads the AHL with 813 minutes played and 400 saves.
