News & Notes

Center Michael Cammalleri set a new franchise record for points in a season as the Monarchs moved back into first place in the American Hockey League's Atlantic Division with a 4-2 win over the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday night.

Cammalleri collected his league-leading 40th goal and team record 89th point (40-49=89) against the Lock Monsters. The goal was his fourth in four games and eighth in seven games this month. Former Monarchs left wing Pavel Rosa held the previous record for points in a season. He led the AHL with 88 points (39-49=88) last year.

Cammalleri, who recorded five points (4-1=5) in four games last week, is second in the league in overall scoring with his 89 points.

He trails only Binghamton Senators center Jason Spezza (25-66=91) for first place on the league's overall scoring list.

Cammalleri is just two goals away from equaling the franchise record for goals in a season. Former Monarchs left wing Eric Healey is the record holder. He led the Monarchs and the league with 42 goals in 2002-03.

With two more goals, Cammalleri will match Rosa for most career goals as a Monarch. Cammalleri has 65 goals in 117 career Monarchs games. Rosa holds the all-time mark of 67 goals, collected in 151 games over two seasons (2002-04).

Monarchs Career Goal Leaders

1. Pavel Rosa (2002-04) 67 goals

2. Eric Healey (2001-03) 66 goals

3. Michael Cammalleri (2002-05) 65 goals

Cammalleri is the Monarchs career power play goal leader after collecting his 16th power play goal of the season on Saturday night against the Falcons. With 21 career power play goals, Cammalleri is one better than Healey (20 career power play goals) on the alltime list.

Cammalleri ranks third on the Monarchs all-time points scored list with 148 career points. He needs just three points to match Rosa for second on the all-time list.

Monarchs Career Scoring Leaders

1. Steve Kelly (2001-04) 164 pts (50-114=164)

2. Pavel Rosa (2002-04) 151 pts (67-84=151)

3. Michael Cammalleri (2002-05) 148 pts (65-83=148)

With his assist on Wednesday night against the Falcons, Cammalleri tied the team record for assists in a season with 49. He currently shares the record with Rosa (49 assists in 2003-04) and former Monarchs center Steve Kelly (49 assists in 2003-04).

Cammalleri has scored at least a point in 12 of his last 13 contests. The third-year pro has scored at least a point in 53 of the 63 games he's skated in this season.

Goaltender Adam Hauser (4 043 minutes) reached a Monarchs milestone on Sunday night, eclipsing 4,000 minutes played in Manchester. The Monarchs career leader for minutes played is Travis Scott. Scott recorded 4,999 minutes with the Monarchs over two seasons (2001-03).

Hauser's 69 career appearances and 36 career wins are second only to Scott, who collected 44 wins over 89 appearances from 2001- 03. Hauser is the Monarchs career shutout (12) and goals -against-average (1.94) leader.

Hauser, who collected his 16th win of the season on Sunday night against the Lock Monsters, is tied for third in the AHL with a savepercentage of .931 and tied for fifth in the AHL with a goals -against-average of 1.95 this season.

Smyth, fifth on the Monarchs with 46 points (16-30=46) in 45 games, ranks among the most prolific scorers in the history of the AHL. Smyth, who has four points (2-2=4) in his last four games, is tied for 47th on the league's all-time scoring list with 571 points (285-286=571) in 514 career AHL games.

Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov leads all league defenseman with 36 assists. He needs just one more assist to tie the team record for assists in a season by a blueliner. The record of 37 assists is shared by former Monarchs defensemen Bryan Muir (2003-04) and Joe Corvo (2001-02).

Defenseman Joe Rullier set a new single season penalty minute record against the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night. Rullier, who had 17 PIM against the Phantoms, leads all AHL defensemen with 274 penalty minutes this season. The previous record of 269 penalty minutes in a season was set by former Monarchs left wing Kip Brennan in 2001-02.
