The Wolf Pack finished what may be called their most tiring week of the season with three games versus division rivals thrown in after a long trip back from Utah, capturing six out of a possible 10 points. That leaves the team two points out of first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 41-21-2-2, good for 86 points. The team improved its road record to .500 at 15-15-1-1. The Pack continues to leads the league in penalty minutes with 1,923, and is in second place penalty killing, with an 89.5% efficiency.

Steve Valiquette and Jason LaBarbera remain one and two on the leader board for goalies in the AHL. Valiquette sports an average of 1.76, while LaBarbera is not far behind at 1.88.

This week:

After three games in three nights, the Wolf Pack earn a well-deserved rest, and will play only two road games this week - but they are both important intra-divisional games. The club has a record of 24-13-1-2 versus divisional opponents thus far this season. On Tuesday, players will participate in the Mass Mutual Reading Program, as the club winds down its community appearances for the season in preparation for playoffs. The Wolf Pack give up HCC ice to Disney's Toys on Ice, so all practices this week will be in Cromwell.

Tuesday, March 15 - Mass Mutual Reading Program

Four Wolf Pack players will attend four different schools on Tuesday to participate in the Mass Mutual Reading Program. Participating schools include Dwight School, Kinsella School, Rawson School and Webster School, all in Hartford. Players will talk about the importance of reading and will read a book to students in the third and fourth grade.

Tuesday, March 15 - "Pack Talk" at Little Mark's Big Barbecue on ESPN Radio 1410

This week's scheduled guests Lawrence Nycholat and Dave Liffiton will join the voice of the Wolf Pack, Bob Crawford, at Little Mark's Big Barbecue, 279 West Main Street (Route 44) in Avon from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Fans are invited to come down to Little Mark's to participate live, or to listen in on ESPN Radio 1410.

Friday, March 18 at Manchester - Verizon Wireless Arena, 7:35 p.m.

* The Monarchs remain just two points ahead of the Pack in the standings. They are 41-17-3-3, with a home record of 24-6-2-1. The Monarchs are 5-5-0-0 in their last ten games.

* Michael Cammalleri is second in scoring in the AHL with 40 goals, 49 assists and 89 points

* The Pack are 4-2-0-0 against the Monarchs, their last game a 4-2 win over Manchester back on March 2 at the Civic Center. High scorers for Hartford are Alexandre Giroux, Jamie Lundmark and Jeff Hamilton, each with five points. Not surprisingly, Cammalleri leads the Monarchs against Hartford with 3-4-7.

Saturday, March 19 at Lowell - Tsongas Arena, 7:00 p.m.

* The Lock Monsters are in third place in the Atlantic, with a 36-20-1-5 record, good for 78 points.

* Lowell's Eric Staal is tied with two others for most short-handed goals in the league, while Chuck Kobasew has the most game winning goals (10). Jeff Hamilton of the Wolf Pack is tied for second with 9.

* The Wolf Pack are 2-2-0-1 against Lowell. The Lock Monsters are the only team to have won two games on Civic Center ice against the Pack. In their last meeting on March 12, the Lock Monsters defeated the Wolf Pack 3-1. High scorers for Hartford are Jed Ortmeyer (4-0-4) and Jamie Lundmark (0-4-4). Mike Zigomanis leads the Lock Monsters' scoring parade versus Hartford with 3-2-5.

Pack Tracks:

April 2, the CT Sled Hockey team will play local media in a sled hockey game before the Wolf Pack game against Portland. The game will be played from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with proceeds going to the CT Sled Hockey trip to Ottawa, Canada. Admission to the game is by a donation of discretion. Confirmed media participating include: Brad Drazen, Kevin Nathan, Brian Shactman (NBC); Bob Rumbold (FOX), Damon Scott, Kevin Johnson (WTIC); and Donny Marshall (ESPN).

The Calder Cup Tour makes its stop in Hartford on Saturday, April 9 when the Pack host the Portland Pirates. Come get your picture taken with the most coveted trophy in the American Hockey League.

Red and Blue Wolf seating is offered at half price for all members of the armed forces presenting their military ID. Adult tickets cost $8 or $10, with a limit of four (4) tickets per ID. College students with ID can purchase tickets in the Red and Blue Wolf seating areas to Wednesday, Friday and Sunday games for half price. Tickets are $8 or $10, with a limit of two (2) tickets per ID. Both offers are good for tickets purchased at the Hartford Civic Center Box Office ONLY.

The new Hartford Wolf Pack "Pack Shop" is now open at its new location - 100 Allyn Street. The store is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as two hours prior to and one hour after each and every Wolf Pack home game, including Saturday and Sundays. A full line of Wolf Pack merchandise is available, while a limited selection of items will still be available in the Civic Center Mall before games.
