Monarchs Recap: The Monarchs (24-20-4-3) have a 1-1-1 record in their last three games. They fell to the Springfield Falcons, 4-0, at the Springfield Civic Center on Friday, February 6. Springfield had goals from left wing Frantisek Lukes, center Chris Ferraro and two from center Erik Westrum. Mathieu Chouinard was in goal for the Monarchs and took his fifth loss of the season with 30 saves. The Monarchs next returned home to the Verizon Wirelss Arena on Saturday, February 7 and beat the Worcester IceCats, 3-1. Right wing Pavel Rosa (1-1=2), left wing Chris Schmidt (1-1=2) and forward Michael Cammalleri (0-2=2) each had two point games. Right wing John Tripp made his brief return to the Monarchs a good one with the game-winning power-play goal, scored at 9:16 of the second period. Goaltender Adam Hauser made 26 saves for his 11th win of the season. The Monarchs and IceCats met again on Wednesday, February 11 at Worcester's Centrum Centre and skated to a 4-4 tie. The Monarchs had goals from Rosa (2), Schmidt and defenseman Joe Rullier. The IceCats had power play goals from defenseman Tom Koivisto and center Johnny Pohl. Defenseman Aaron MacKenzie and right wing Mike Glumac also scored for the IceCats.

Looking Ahead: The Monarchs are on the road until Monday, February 23 when they host the Binghamton Senators at 7:05 p.m. They head to Albany on Saturday, February 14 to drop the puck with the River Rats at 4:00 p.m., and then travel to Providence to face the Bruins at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, February 15. Lowell is the next stop for the Monarchs on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Movers And Shakers: The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Monarchs, recalled right wing John Tripp and defensemen Tomas Zizka and Tim Gleason from Manchester on Monday, February 11. The Monarchs also signed defenseman Chad Dameworth and left wing Travis Lisabeth to professional tryout agreements this week.

Tripp, 26, has appeared in 21 games for the Kings this season recording four points (all assists) and 26 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound native of Kingston, Ontario, made his NHL debut last season with the New York Rangers. In 24 games with the Monarchs, Tripp has recorded 18 points (8-7=15) and 33 penalty minutes. Tripp was most recently sent to the Monarchs on Wednesday, February 4, for a conditioning assignment.

Zizka, 24, has appeared in six games with the Kings this season, recording zero points and eight penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound native of Sternberk, Czech Republic, has also appeared in 39 games with the Monarchs this season, registering 16 points (3-13=16) and 27 penalty minutes. Drafted by the Kings in the sixth-round (163rd overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Zizka has appeared in 16 career NHL regular season games, all with the Kings, and has three points (all assists) and 12 penalty minutes.

Gleason, 21, has appeared in 29 games for the Kings this season registering two points (both assists) and 19 penalty minutes after making his NHL debut on October 9. The 6-foot-1, 214-pound native of Southfield, Michigan, has also appeared in 15 games for the Monarchs this season recording five points (all assists) and six penalty minutes.

Dameworth, 31, has appeared in seven games with the ECHL's Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies this season, recording zero points and four penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Marquette, Michigan, has also appeared in 20 games for the Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League, recording six points (1-5=6) and 39 penalty minutes. Dameworth signed a professional tryout agreement with the Monarchs on Wednesday, February 11.

Lisabeth, 23, has appeared in 46 games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL this season, recording 34 points (17-17=34) and 86 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of London, Ontario participated in the Monarchs 2003 training camp. Lisabeth signed a professional tryout agreement with the Monarchs on Friday, February 13.

Kelly Out 2-3 Weeks: Center Steve Kelly will be out of the Monarchs line-up for 2-3 weeks due to a separated shoulder. He suffered the injury on Wednesday, February 11 against the IceCats.

New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Luncheon: The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey will celebrate the Granite State's rich hockey tradition when it inducts nine new members into its organization on March 20, 2004. A special tribute to the city of Concord is also planned. This year's inductees include: Willie Bibeau, Manchester; George Crowe, Hanover; Ron Dubreuil, Manchester; Hubie McDonough, Jr., Manchester; Tara Mounsey, Concord; Dick Osborne, Concord; Huskie Poirier, Berlin; Andre St. Laurent, Manchester; Dede Villeneuve, Berlin. The nine inductees will be honored during a 3 p.m. luncheon at the Wayfarer Inn in Bedford, and then introduced during an on-ice ceremony at the Verizon Wireless Arena prior to the Manchester Monarchs 7:35 p.m. match-up with the Providence Bruins. Tickets for the luncheon are $30 and can be purchased by calling Dick or Diane Theriault at (603) 895-2450.

As part of the night's festivities, the Monarchs will wear throwback jerseys featuring the crest of the Concord Budmen, a team that played senior hockey at Everett Arena in Concord from 1975-90. Following the game, the throwback jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds from the event going to The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey, an organization that recognizes men and women in the state of New Hampshire who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of ice hockey.

Mullet Night Returns: The Monarchs proudly announced recently that a promotion that gained national attention is coming back to the Verizon Wireless Arena. Mullet Night II is scheduled for Friday, March 12 when the Monarchs host the Worcester IceCats at 7:35 p.m. The first 5,000 fans attending Mullet Night II will receive a free Mullet wig, courtesy of Trimz Family Haircut Center. Like last year, the Monarchs will host a selection into the Mullet Hall of Fame at the game. The selection will be revealed at a later date. Individual tickets to Mullet Night II are on sale now and can be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10-6 p.m., Saturday from 10-2 p.m., with additional hours on game day. Individual tickets can also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (603) 868-7300, or by visiting Ticketmaster on-line at www.ticketmaster.com. Monarchs All-Stars: Right wing Pavel Rosa scored a goal for PlanetUSA and center Steve Kelly recorded an assist for Team Canada as the Canadian All-Stars topped PlanetUSA, 9-5, in the 2004 AHL All-Star Game, played at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 9. Defenseman Bryan Muir was a starter for the Canadians and left wing Noah Clarke played for PlanetUSA. Clarke captured the CCM Fastest Skater award at the 2004 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, February 8 with a lap of 14:042 seconds. The PlanetUSA All-Stars beat the Canadians, 18-9, in the Skills Competition.

Monarchs at Tri-Town: The Monarchs will be practicing at Tri-Town Ice Arena on Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20 at 9:20 a.m. each day.

Verizon Employee Appreciation Night: Staff from the Verizon Wireless Arena will load up four buses and take over three sections of the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, February 15. They're traveling to Providence to cheer on the Monarchs, who face the Bruins at 4:05 p.m. Employees of the Verizon Wireless Arena and their families, totaling 217 people, are being treated to the game as part of Employee Appreciation Night. Each year, the arena takes several buses to a Monarchs' road game. Last year, they traveled to Worcester and next year's trip is tentatively scheduled for Hartford.

Monarchs In The Community: Monarchs' Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough will be speaking to a class at University of New Hampshire-Manchester on Wednesday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Monarchs' left wing Jeff Giuliano, a native of Nashua, New Hampshire, will serve as a celebrity reader at the State Senate's Read Across America celebration on March 2 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Senate chamber in Concord. Giuliano, 24, will read, Z is for Zamboni, to the assembled students and senators. The event is a collaboration of NEA-NH, the NH Association of School Principles, and the Senate. It highlights the importance of families reading daily with their children. Two fourth-graders from each senate district are invited to read with their senators as part of the day's festivities.

Two Monarchs players will be at Auburn Village School in Auburn, New Hampshire on Tuesday, March 2 from 1:45-2:45 p.m. to speak to the students about setting and achieving goals as part of the Monarchs Goals For Success program.

Max's B-day Celebration! Laser Light Show: Don't miss this amazing show as our birthday boy Max puts on his wizard cape and conducts a magical intermission laser light show. The first 3,000 kids 12 and under will receive Harry Potter glasses as part of the promotion. All of Max's friends are invited to his birthday bash, set for Sunday, February 29 at 4:05 p.m. when the Monarchs take on the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Trading Cards Are In! The Monarchs' 2003-04 trading cards are in and can be purchased at the Monarchs Pro Shop and at Kiosks set up around the arena during home games. The Monarchs' Pro Shop is open Monday through Friday from 9-5 p.m. and during Monarchs' games.
