
IceCats Add Two, Delete One

WORCESTER, MA- St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations, Larry Pleau, today announced a trio of transactions for the American Hockey League (AHL) club. Defenseman Matt Walker was recalled by St. Louis from his conditioning loan to Worcester. Meanwhile, defenseman Aris Brimanis was returned to Worcester from the Blues and right wing Mike Hoffman was recalled by the IceCats from Peoria of the ECHL.
Walker logged time in four consecutive games for the âCats, his first action of the season, starting with a 3-2 win over Lowell on February 4th. In that game, the 6-3, 227 pound defenseman picked up the primary assist on a shorthanded goal, his lone point during the assignment. He also added seven penalty minutes to his AHL totals. Since making his professional debut in 2000, Walker has participated in 154 regular season games for the IceCats. The Blues' 3rd choice, 83rd overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, has notched a total of seven goals, 27 assists and 360 penalty minutes for Worcester: 154(7/27/34) 360. He has one assist and 38 PIM's in 16 NHL contests: 16(0/1/1) 38. All of those games were with the Blues last season.
Brimanis made his Blues debut on October 18th against Washington, his first game of five separate stints with the Blues this season. His totals with the IceCats NHL affiliate include 13 games and four penalty minutes and an even rating: 13(0/0/0) E. In 36 games with Worcester this season, he has one goal and seven assists: 36(1/7/8). His lone goal was a game-winner on November 28th against Springfield. Brimanis skated in 38 games with Worcester last season, ranking first on the team with a plus-19 rating and was tied for first on the team among defensemen with eight goals. He was signed by St. Louis as a free agent on August 9th , 2002 and was originally Philadelphia's fourth round selection, 86th overall in the 1991 Entry Draft.
Since being signed by the IceCats to an AHL contract on January 19th, Hoffman has appeared in nine AHL games. The 6-5, 248 pound Massachusetts native has 15 penalty minutes and is still in search of his first point with the âCats: 9(0/0/0)15. Hoffman also has two assists and nine penalty minutes in eight games with the Peoria Rivermen during the 2003-2004 campaign: 8(0/2/2)9.
The IceCats are in Providence tonight for a 7:05 PM faceoff with the Bruins. The âCats return home for a Saturday night 7:05 PM engagement with the Philadelphia Phantoms and a 4:05 PM Sunday showdown with the San Antonio Rampage. For tickets and information call 800-830 CATS.
