P-Bruins fall to Worcester on Friday the 13th

The Providence Bruins and Worcester IceCats played the 100th game in their all-time series on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, with the IceCats taking a 3-1 decision. Worcester now holds a 44-43-13 edge in the all-time series. The loss moved the Black and Gold into third place in the Atlantic Division with its 22-17-10-2 record (56 points), one point behind Worcester.

Bruin center Matt Herr scored for the second time in as many nights, on his 11th goal of the season. Team captain Rich Brennan added his sixth goal of the year on a second period power play. Rookie goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 25 shots in the loss.

Two Bruins returned to the lineup after missing time due to injuries. Center Andre Savage had missed five games, but had an assist in the game to extend his point streak to four games (3-5-8). He leads the team with 12-21-33 totals in 47 games. Right wing Pat Leahy returned to action after missing 19 games due to a broken ankle suffered on December 20.

The Bruins return to action when they host the Manchester Monarchs on Sunday at 4:05 p.m., and the Norfolk Admirals on Monday at 4:05 p.m.
