Penguins sign forward Jean-Francois Dufour to 25-game PTO

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today signed forward Jean-Francois Dufour to a 25-game tryout contract. The announcement was made by Penguins' team president Jeff Barrett.

Dufour, 27, was signed by the Penguins earlier in the season and was scoreless with three shots and a minus-two rating in four games. He was signed by the Penguins to a 25-game pro try-out on November 14 and was released on Nov. 23.

The 5'11", 200-pound native of Bedford, Quebec is second in the ECHL in scoring with 61 points (20+41) in 43 games. Dufour, who is also tied for second in the league in assists, leads the Nailers in scoring and is ranked among the team leaders in shots (first with 154), assists (first), goals (second) and plus/minus rating (fourth with a plus-22 rating).

Last season, he appeared in 57 games with Quad City (UHL), recording 51 points (17+34) and 35 penalty minutes. In college, Dufour was a four-year letterwinner at The Ohio State University (CCHA) from 1997-2001. In 155 career games with the Buckeyes, he recorded 121 points (47+74) and 105 penalty minutes

Dufour is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Penguins (20-20-5-4, 49 pts; Sixth -place, East Division) host the Portland Pirates (19-17-8-6; 52 pts; Fifth-place, Atlantic Division) at 7:05 p.m. at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

Tickets are still available for each of the three remaining games on the current six-game homestand. Approximately 120 tickets are still available for tonight's game; 100 tickets are available for tomorrow's game vs. Norfolk; and 250 tickets are available for Monday's game vs. Binghamton (5:05 p.m.). All fans attending the Presidents' Day game against the Senators will receive a Matt Murley All-Star Poster, courtesy of McCarthy Tire.

Tickets can be purchased at the Wachovia Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets. The Penguins have sold out their last 126 home games (league-record) played in Wilkes-Barre.

INJURY UPDATE: Center Kris Beech suffered a right clavicle fracture in the first period on Wednesday in the Penguins' 5-2 win over Toronto and right wing Steve Webb was also injured and is out indefinitely with fractured ribs. Beech is expected to be out 6-8 weeks. Left wing Guillaume Lefebvre is expected to return to the lineup tonight after missing the last 10 games with a broken left foot suffered at Portland on January 10.
