Monarchs Loan Fukufuji To Reading

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have loaned goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji to the ECHL's Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Fukufuji, 23, appeared in 44 games with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors during the 2004-05 season. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound native of Tokyo, Japan, finished last season with a record of 31-12-5, a goals-against-average of 2.57 and a save-percentage of .918. The Kings eighth-round (238th overall) draft selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Fukufuji was voted Rookie of the Year by the Condors coaching staff last season.

The Monarchs open the 2005-06 regular season on Saturday, October 8, against the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Hartford Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. The home opener is set for Saturday, October 15, at 7:35 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Single seats in the Gold level and 500 seats in the Silver level remain for next Saturday's game against the Falcons.
