Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Calder Cup Champion Philadelphia Phantoms will drop the puck on the 2005-06 season with a pair of games at the Wachovia Center this weekend. The season begins on Saturday, Oct. 8 when they host the Binghamton Senators at 7:05 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 9, the Phantoms will host the Albany River Rats at 5:05 p.m.

Saturday's event will include several pre-game festivities to celebrate the team's 2005 Calder Cup Championship. Members of the 2004-05 team will receive their championship rings in a special on-ice ceremony and a video tribute to the team will be shown. The Phantoms will then unveil a 2005 Calder Cup Championship banner that will hang permanently in the Wachovia Center, where the Phantoms won the championship on June 10, 2005 with a 5-2 win over the Chicago Wolves in Game 4 of the Calder Cup Finals.

Before the game, members of the 2004-05 squad not playing in the evening's game - including those now with the Philadelphia Flyers - will sign autographs on the concourse. Also, the first 10,000 fans through the door will receive championship ring key chains courtesy of Toyota.

Following the weekend series, the Phantoms will be on the road for the next eight games. The club will open up the Wachovia Spectrum portion of its home schedule on November 4 when the Hershey Bears come to town. That game will feature the unveiling of the 2005 Eastern Conference and 2005 Calder Cup championship banners that will hang permanently in the Spectrum.

The 2004-05 Phantoms squad won the franchise's second Calder Cup Championship, joining the 1997-98 team as AHL playoff champions. They wrapped up the championship in front of a Game 4 crowd of 20,103 at the Wachovia Center, the second-largest crowd in league history and largest in AHL playoff history.

Tickets for both weekend games, as well as all Phantoms home games, are available at the Wachovia Center box office, at all Ticketmaster locations, or by logging on to www.phantomshockey.com.
