MANCHESTER, NH - Goaltender Barry Brust recorded his second shutout of the season and right wing Lauri Tukonen collected his first goal since November 27 as the Manchester Monarchs blanked the Albany River Rats, 1-0, at the Pepsi Arena in front of 5,811 fans on Saturday night.

Manchester (23-11-1-4, 51 points) has moved into a tie for second place in the Atlantic Division with the Hartford Wolf Pack (22-11-2-5, 51 points). Albany (13-25-0-2, 28 points) is in seventh place in the Atlantic Division.

It took 43 minutes and 14 seconds for a goal to be scored as the Monarchs and River Rats skated scoreless through two periods. Albany's captain Alex Brooks went to the penalty box for hooking at 2:48 of the third period. Defenseman Mark Ardelan collected a pass from right wing Brad Smyth in the neutral zone and the Monarchs began a rush down the ice with left wing Noah Clarke, Tukonen and Ardelan. Tukonen and Clarke crashed the net as Ardelan skated down the right side. Ardelan threw a shot on net and Tukonen scooped up the rebound and flipped the puck into the net for his sixth of the season at 3:14 of the third period.

Brust (8-2-1) earned his eighth win of the season, second shutout, stopping all 20 shots he faced. River Rats goaltender Frank Doyle (11-16-2) took his 16th loss of the season with 34 saves.

Manchester went 1-for-7 on the power play. Albany was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

The Monarchs host the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday, January 15 at 4:05 p.m.
