Lowell, Mass. - Sean Curry's first goal of the season came with just 58 seconds left in overtime to lift the Providence Bruins (21-15-1-1) to a 2-1 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters (15-20-2-4) at Tsongas Arena on Saturday night.

Rookie G Craig Kowalski, who stopped 47 shots in his AHL debut a week ago, once again was busy early in a scoreless first period, as Providence took the first seven shots of the game. The Monsters began gaining some momentum toward the middle of the frame, picking up the physical play with hits from Donny Grover and Nicolas Corbeil that got a rise out of the crowd. Kowalski made several acrobatic stops, including a sprawling pad stop with just two minutes remaining in the period, and finished the frame perfect on 11 Bruins shots.

In the second it was the Lock Monsters turn to control the tempo. They pulled even in shots before the midway point, and had several good chances in front of the net. Kowalski drew a gasp from the crowd when he took a blast from 20 feet out off the face mask. At 12:33 of the second it was the rookie Corbeil, playing in his second game with the team, to give Lowell the lead, jamming in a loose puck from the top of the crease to make it 1-0 after 40 minutes.

Lowell held the lead for the majority of the third, although Providence continued to pressure. In the second half of the frame a pair of back-to-back penalties against the Monsters put them on the defensive. David Lundbohm finally solved Kowalski with just 2:24 left in the game when his shot deflected up and in for his eighth of the season. The Bruins outshot Lowell 8-6 in the third and 30-26 through regulation. Overtime reached the final minute and that's when former Monster Curry lit the lamp to end the game, when his wrister snuck through Kowalski for his first of the season.
