Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Rochester Americans 5-3 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. Hamilton has now dropped two straight after a three-game winning streak last weekend. Tonight's loss drops the Bulldogs record to 16-25-0-2.

Rochester opened the scoring just 4:23 into the first period when Mark Mancari slid a rebound behind Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis. Danis stopped the initial shot by Doug Janik before Mancari scored his eleventh goal of the season.

The Amerks increased their lead at the 16:44 mark when Michael Ryan streaked down the right wing while short-handed and made a drop pass to defenseman Martin Lojek. Lojek blasted a shot past Danis' glove side for his first goal of the season.

Marc-Antoine Pouliot got Hamilton on the board at the 5:17 mark of the second period when teams were playing 4-on-4. Pouliot deposited the rebound after Dan Smith's shot was stopped by Rochester netminder Pelletier.

Hamilton evened the score at 2-2 when Jean-Francois Jacques deflected a shot taken by Brad Winchester past Pelletier for his team-leading twelfth goal of the season at 10:07.

Rochester regained the lead a mere 39 seconds later when Matt Hendricks took a pass from Sylvain Dufresne and snapped a shot that beat Danis high on the blocker side for his fifth marker of the season.

The Amerks added to their lead at the 19:29 mark of the second period when Mancari notched his second goal of the night on a scramble in front of Yann Danis.

Jeff Deslauriers replaced Danis in the Hamilton net to start the third period.

Bulldogs defenseman Andre Benoit cut the lead in half at the 12:01 mark of the third period, receiving a no-look pass from Corey Locke and roofing the puck on Pelletier's glove side. Drawing an assist on the play was Pierre Dagenais, who recorded his first point since being assigned to Hamilton on Tuesday, January 10.

Dustin Johnner iced the game for the Amerks, scoring his second goal of the season into an empty Hamilton net.

Danis made 22 saves on 26 shots for the loss and Pelletier made 40 saves on 43 shots to earn the win. Deslauriers stopped all 13 shots he faced in relief.

Hamilton was 1 for 9 on the power play while Rochester was 0 for 5.
