The Hamilton Bulldogs (16-24-0-2) face the Rochester Americans (19-18-1-1) tonight in the first game of a home-and-home series. The 'Dogs will look to bounce back after having their three-game winning streak snapped last night by the Syracuse Crunch. The Amerks, who have dropped their last two games, lead the season series with a record of 3-1-0-0.
The last time these two teams met on December 29, Hamilton defeated Rochester for the first time this season by a score of 4-1. Mathieu Roy, Michael Lambert, James Sanford, and Raitis Ivanans scored for Hamilton, while Stefan Meyer had the lone goal for Rochester.
Hamilton has 34 points and sits four points back of the sixth-place Cleveland Barons in the North Division, while Rochester sits in fifth position with 40 points.
BULLDOGS/AMERKS NOTES - C Maxim Lapierre has recorded one point in each of his last two games (1g-1a).
- LW Michael Lambert has four points (2g-2a) in four games against Rochester this season.
- D Mathieu Roy and Lambert each posted 1g-2a on Dec. 29 against the Americans. Roy and Lambert were named first and second star of the game respectively.
- D James Sanford had his first multipoint outing of the season on Dec. 29 against Rochester, collecting 1g-1a. Sanford was named the game's third star.
- Former 'Dogs D Dan Focht has played in 26 games this season for the Amerks and has posted five points (1g-4a).
- Rochester owns the AHL's second ranked power play, which is currently operating at 21.7% (57 goals on 263 opportunities).
