MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach, Rich Seeley, announced today that Steven Hodges has been assigned to Manchester by the Portland Pirates, and Austin Block has been traded to the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL)

Hodges, 21, has not appeared in a game this season for Portland, but split playing time in the 2014-15 season between the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) and Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL). Hodges played in 23 games for the Rampage, scoring two points on one goal and one assist, and played in 28 games for the Cyclones, scoring 15 points on eight goals and seven assists.

The Yellowknife, NWT native played three seasons for the Victoria Royals and parts of two seasons with the Chilliwack Bruins of the WHL, appearing in 247 games combined, scoring 157 points on 75 goals and 82 assists. Hodges was named to the 2012-13 WHL All-Star Team, and was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round (#84 overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Block, 26, appeared in 40 games with the Monarchs this season, scoring 12 points on three goals and nine assists. Block was a key member of the penalty-kill unit for the Monarchs, and in his ECHL career, has played in 54 games, posting 20 points on five goals and 15 assists with Manchester and the Bakersfield Condors.

The Denver, Colo. native played collegiately at the University of New Hampshire, playing in 150 games and scoring 50 points on 25 goals and 25 assists for the Wildcats. After leaving campus, Block signed to play in Europe with HIFK (Liiga) and eventually played two seasons across the pond also with HCK (Mestis), Karlskrona HK (Allsvenskan) and HC Banska Bystrica (Slovakia).

Hodges and the Monarchs are back in action Sunday, Feb. 14 (3 p.m.) when they host the Wheeling Nailers at the Verizon Wireless Arena for a Valentine's Day matinee.
