TULSA, Okla. - The host Tulsa Oilers (24-17-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 victory over the Quad City Mallards (21-20-5) Fri day night as Phil Brewer scored what proved to be the game winning goal and Kevin Carr made 21 saves .

The Oilers broke loose for two crucial goals just 17 seconds apart in the second period. Jordan Kremyr's blast from the right wing circle doubled what had been a 1-0 Tulsa lead at 9:41 of the second. At 9:58 Brewer streaked into the Mallard slot and rifled the third Tulsa goal in under the crossbar.

The Mallards clawed back into the game with two quick second period goals of their own. Matt Carey roofed the Mallards' first from the side of the net at the 12:45 mark. Just over a minute and a half later Kevin Henderson, who had assisted on Carey's goal, reduced the deficit to 3-2 by burying Carey's centering feed, but the Mallards were unable to complete the comeback.

The Oilers never relinquished the lead after Adam Pleskach finished off a 3-on-2 rush to open the scoring at 15:51 of the first period.
