Toledo Collects a Point in 5-4 Overtime Loss at Brampton

(Brampton, ON) Toledo scored twice in the third period to come away with a point in a 5-4 overtime loss Friday night in Brampton. Toledo has an overall record of 27-13-2-3 and 13-8-2-2 on the road. The Walleye host Brampton Saturday night.

Tyler Maxwell (8th) put the Walleye in front of Brampton 1-0 at 4:21 of the first period when his wrist shot deflected past Beast goaltender Drew Fielding. Brampton tied the game when forward David Ling tipped a pass behind Jeff Lerg at 7:33. Toledo held a 10-9 shot advantage after the first period.

With Toledo on the power play to start the second period, Dane Walters (3rd) took a pass in front of the Brampton and roofed a wrist shot for a 2-1 Walleye lead at 1:38. The Beast found the back of the net on a power play at 13:02 to even the game heading to the third period.

Brampton struck twice to start the third period to take a 4-2 lead until Michael Leone sent a wrist shot that closed the gap at 9:41 of the third period. The 5th goal of the year for Leone came shorthanded. At 11:20, Beau Schmitz (4th) deflected a Shane Berschbach pass into the back of the net. Brampton's Joe Zarbo netted the game winner 3:21 into overtime.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped 22 of the 27 shots he faced and saw his record go to 19-5-1-2 on the season. Toledo is 5-1-1 vs. Brampton this year.
