Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced that the Monarchs added goaltender, Nick Niedert, Zach Leslie was recalled from loan by Ontario (AHL) and Colin Stevens was recalled from loan by Portland (AHL).

Niedert, 33, was signed by the Monarchs on February 17 as the emergency backup goaltender and eventually was the primary backup for the Monarchs in three games but did not see playing time. The 12-year veteran has played in two games this season for the Reading Royals, posting a 1-0-0-0 record, a 4.98 GAA and a 0.840 save percentage.

Leslie, 22, played in five games for the Monarchs this season after being loaned to Manchester by the Ontario Reign. During his time in Manchester, Leslie scored his first professional goal while recording two penalty minutes.

Stevens, 22, played in 23 games with the Monarchs this season, posting a 15-5-1-0 record, a 2.39 GAA and a 0.920 save percentage. Stevens receives his second call to Portland this season after not seeing game action during his first recall. The rookie goaltender from Union College leaves the Monarchs on an eight-game winning streak dating back to January 23 and has posted a 15-2-0-1 record since dropping the first three starts of his professional career.

Niedert and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Mar. 4 (7 p.m.) when they host the Orlando Solar Bears for the start of a three-game series with their East Division rivals.
