
Monarchs Add Four To Roster

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The Manchester Monarchs have recalled center Brandon Dietrich from the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League and have signed forwards Lonnie Loach and Louis Goulet, and defenseman Doug Schueller to professional tryout agreements, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Dietrich, 24, has three assists and 13 penalty minutes in nine games for the Monarchs this season. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound native of Waterloo, Ontario, has recorded 49 points (17-32=49) and 54 penalty minutes in 49 games for the Royals this season.
Loach, 34, has appeared in 56 games for the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League scoring 65 points (27-38=65) and 46 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of New Liskeard, Ontario, has scored over 1,000 points in 16 years of professional hockey. Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in round five (98th overall) of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, Loach played for Barry Melrose on the 1992-93 Los Angeles Kings. He also won the Calder Cup with the Melrose-coached Adirondack Red Wings in 1991-92. Loach, who has 23 points (10-13=23) in 56 career NHL games, will wear jersey #21 when he makes his Monarchs debut later tonight.
Goulet, 24, has appeared in 54 games for the Orlando Seals of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League recording 74 points (19-55=74) and 14 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound native of Kapuskasing, Ontario, led Mercyhurst College in scoring with 38 points (10-28=38) last year. Goulet will wear jersey #9 when he makes his Monarchs debut later tonight.
Schueller, 25, has appeared in 54 games for the Roanoke Express of the East Coast Hockey League recording eight points (2-6=8) and 50 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, was selected by the Florida Panthers in the eighth round (211th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Schueller briefly played for the Louisville Panthers in 2000-01, and the Utah Grizzlies in 2001-02 compiling six points (1-5=6) and 13 penalty minutes in 13 AHL games. Schueller will wear jersey #2 when he makes his Monarchs debut later tonight.
The Monarchs (30-19-9-3, 72 points) travel to Maine to meet the Pirates (30-21-8-5, 73 points) at 7:05 p.m. tonight. The Monarchs and the Pirates have met eight times this season with the Monarchs holding a 3-3-2-0 record in head-to-head competition. After tonight's game, the Monarchs continue a stretch of 10 consecutive games away from home when they leave Thursday for games in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts, on Friday and Saturday.
The Monarchs next home game is set for Friday, March 14, against the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:35 p.m. Only a few hundred tickets remain for that game. For Monarchs ticket information, call (603) 626-7825.
