Todd Reirden and Rob Valicevic each scored twice and standout rookie defenseman Mark Popovic recorded three assists as Cincinnati rolled past Cleveland on Tuesday night, 7-3. It was the Mighty Ducks' sixth win in the last seven games, and closed them to within six points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference... On Monday, Michel Periard scored twice in a span of 25 seconds and Chris Mason made 38 saves to spur San Antonio on to a 6-2 win over visiting Houston. It was the Rampage's first win in seven tries (1-5-1-0) against the Aeros.

LOOKING AHEAD:

Portland hosts Manchester on Wednesday (7:05 ET) in an important Eastern Conference matchup. The Monarchs' current eight-game winless streak (0-6-2-0) has allowed the Pirates (6-3-4-0 since the All-Star break) to move past Manchester into fourth place in the East, a standings position that means home-ice advantage in the conference quarterfinals. Portland is 3-1-2-2 against the Monarchs this season, led by Peter Ferraro's 10 points in the season series.

Rochester pays a visit to Binghamton on Wednesday in the 214th all-time meeting between the rival AHL cities; the Amerks are 96-98-19 against the Senators and their Broome County predecessors. The top two rookie goaltenders in the league could be going head-to-head, as the Sens' Ray Emery returns from a six-game suspension and Rochester's Ryan Miller looks to improve on a 12-2-2 mark over his last 16 decisions. The Amerks had a 6-0-0-1 road streak snapped with a pair of losses at Grand Rapids last weekend.

While Houston looks to salt away a West Division title, Milwaukee is trying to improve their standing in the conference; they meet Wednesday at the Bradley Center (7:12 CT). The Admirals have allowed just 16 goals in eight meetings with the high-powered Aeros, who continue to be led by three-time All-Star winger Jean-Guy Trudel (24+43=67 pts.). With three wins in their last 16 games (3-8-5-0), the Admirals have fallen from fifth to 10th place in the Western Conference.
