SAINT PAUL, Minn.- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has agreed to terms with defenseman Dylan Labbe (pronounced la-BAY) on a three-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2015-16 season.
Labbe, 20 (1/9/95), recorded 51 points (15-3651), including six power-play goals, a plus-10 rating and 43 penalty minutes (PIM) in 63 games with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) this season. The 6-foot-2, 186-pound native of St. Benjamin, Quebec, ranked tied for third amongst QMJHL defensemen in goals and sixth in scoring. He recorded 13 points (6-713) during a career-high seven-game point streak (11/28-12/13) and set career highs in goals, assists and points. Labbe added eight points (1-78) in seven playoff contests as Shawinigan lost to Halifax in the first round of the playoffs. He led the Cataractes with 15 PIM in the playoffs, ranked second in assists and tied for second in scoring.
Labbe collected 106 points (31-75106) and 127 PIM in 193 games with Shawinigan (2011-15). He will report to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) for the remainder of this season.
