April 9, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Friday, April 10, marks 60 years to the day of the Syracuse Nationals capturing the 1955 NBA title at the War Memorial Arena. In celebration of this major moment in Syracuse sports history, the Crunch will hold a special ceremony prior to their game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
With the NBA's Senior Communications Advisor to the Commissioner Brian McIntyre looking on, the Crunch will honor three former Nationals players- Dolph Schayes, Bill Kenville and Jim Tucker- as well as family members of Paul Seymour, Earl Lloyd and Bill Gabor.
As part of the center-ice ceremony, the Crunch will present Schayes, Kenville and Tucker with a piece of the original War Memorial Arena court.
To help fans commemorate the night, Hofmann Sausage Company is presenting a team photo, featuring the 1954-55 Syracuse Nationals, to fans as they enter the War Memorial Arena. Fans will be able to have their photos signed by Schayes, Kenville and Tucker during the first intermission of Friday's game.
