WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - RHP Mike Wood, RHP Britt Reames and RHP Wayne Gomes combined on a six-hit shutout on Thursday, as the Sacramento River Cats (23-18) began their eight-game homestand with a 10-0 win over the Nashville Sounds (20-19).
Wood (7-2) allowed no runs on 5 H in 7.0 IP en route to his sixth consecutive victory. DH Dan Johnson led Sacramento's offense with 4 H. 2B Esteban German and 1B Graham Koonce both homered in the game. LHP Cory Stewart (4-1) took the loss for Nashville.
The River Cats and Sounds will play the second game of their four-game series on Friday (7:05 pm) at Raley Field. RHP Joe Blanton will take the hill for the River Cats, and The Famous Chicken will entertain fans.
