SWAN SONG! â The 4 game series vs. Edmonton will be the final games these two franchises will ever play. The Edmonton Trappers will relocate to Round Rock, Texas in 2005.
TANK @ ALL-STAR EVENTS â Danny Fatheree has been selected to catch in the bullpen and on the field during this years Major League Baseball All-Star Events in Houston. He will participate in the Futures Game, Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game.
TREMIE WINS- Zephyrs Catcher Chris Tremie is 8-1 in games he starts.
FOLLOW THE LEADER- New Orleans is 5 games below .500 at 18-23 but finds itself juts 3.5 games back of first place Oklahoma.
LEADERBOARD- Royce Huffman is 6th in the PCL with 49 hits. Carlos Hernandez is 3rd in the league in with a 2.40 ERA. Jared Fernandez leads the league in innings pitched. Kirk Bullinger is 2nd in games pitched with 20 and 2nd with 8 saves. Chris Burke is tied for 2nd in the league with 13 stolen bases.
RED HOT COOLBAUGH- Mike Coolbaugh has a 9 game hit streak. During the west coast road trip he batted .327 (12x37, 9R, 3HR, 5RBI).
ROSTER NOTES- New Orleans has 24 active players on the roster. The Z's also have 2 players on the DL. RHP Doug Sessions is on the DL, with a sore right shoulder. He has an aggravated labrum and will miss at least a month and C Danny Fatheree. 3b Jason Alfaro had bruised ribs and was activated last night.
ROTATION SWITCH â This weekend the Zephyrs will switch up the starting rotation. LHP Carlos Hernandez will work on his regular 4 day rest and will get the start Sunday while Chris Enochs will move back a day and start Monday
IRON MEN- New Orleans has two players that have played in all the games (Chris Burke, Royce Huffman). No Z player has started every game.
KEEP THAT BALL- RHP Kirk Bullinger had his first career hit in his 14 year careen on Saturday night. A RBI Single in the 9th at Tucson.
4 MILLION FANS-- The Z's, which celebrate 12 years in New Orleans this year, will honor the four millionth fan to attend a home game sometime in early June. The four millionth fan will win numerous gifts and prizes including a pair of Zephyrs season tickets for the next two years, two roundtrip airline tickets anywhere in the Continental U.S., courtesy of American Airlines, $100 shopping spree at Esplanade Mall, a team autographed ball and jersey, a free T-Mobile cell phone and much more.
