The 14 team Midwest League is split into two divisions, the Eastern Division with six teams and the Western Division with eight teams including the Beloit Snappers. These teams play 140 game split season schedule. Team win-loss records start over at the All-Star Break. The Midwest League Playoff format is made up of eight qualifying teams, four from each division. The teams with the best record in the first half of the season from each division qualify for the playoffs. The teams with the second best record in each division in the first half are the wildcard teams. In the second half the season the teams with the best record from each division, having not already qualified in the first half, will be the Second Half Champion. The team finishing with the second best record in the second half and also not qualifying in the first half, will be in the playoffs. The Midwest League Playoffs consist of three rounds. The first two rounds series' are best of three, meaning the first team to win two games will advance. In the Midwest League Championship and final round, the two teams will play a best of five series.
In the first round the Western First Half Champion will play the Western Second Half Wildcard. The Western First Half Wildcard will play the Western Second Half Champion. The same holds true for the Eastern Division. The winners will advance to the second round to face each other. Winners of the second round will meet in the Midwest League Championship Series for a best of five series.
Currently the Beloit Snappers trail the Kane County Cougars by one game for the final playoff spot in the Western Division. If the Snappers and Cougars end up tied at the end of the season, Beloit would make the playoffs. The Snappers hold the tie breaker advantage over the Cougars. If there is a three way tie between the Snappers, Cougars and Cedar Rapids Kernels the Snappers would make the playoffs, by virtue of best winning percentage in games involving tied teams for the full season.
