Midnight Madness Ends 5-2 for Wranglers

Las Vegas - A late start for the Las Vegas Wranglers' ninth annual Midnight Game turned out well for the team with a 5-2 win over the Stockton Thunder this morning.

Wranglers forward Eric Lampe kicked off scoring with a goal midway into the first period. Stockton responded with two goals of their own from right wing Matt Foy and center Ryan Martindale to end the frame up 2-1.

Five minutes into the second period, Wranglers center Ash Goldie tied the game up 2-2, and three more goals in the third kept Las Vegas in the lead for the rest of the match. Forward Josh Lunden and defenseman Jamie Fritsch scored five minutes apart early in the frame, and defenseman Adam Huxley secured an empty-net goal with 24 seconds left in play to collect the 5-2 win for Las Vegas.

The Wranglers hit the road for New Year's weekend, taking on the Idaho Steelheads on Dec. 30 and 31. The team returns to Las Vegas on Jan. 13, 2012, to face the Ontario Reign in a two-game series. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
