IN JUST A FEW HOURS...

The Elmira Jackals jump back on the road to battle the Reading Royals at the Sovereign Center, with the puck dropping at 7:05 p.m. Elmira returned home following a seven-game road trip on Monday with a 2-1 shootout victory over Wheeling, extending its division lead to two points over the Nailers. Reading, which snapped a nine-game losing skid on Dec. 9 with a comeback win in Wheeling, has won five of its last six games and enters tonight's game on a four-game winning streak.

ONE-GOAL WONDERS

The Jackals' 2-1 win on Monday was their ninth-straight victory in a game decided by one goal, giving the club a 10-3-0-0 record in those contests this season. Elmira has not lost a one-goal game since Nov. 11, when it fell at home to Reading, 5-4. The Jackals have just two one-goal victories in regulation this year: 5-4 at Florida on Dec. 7 and 4-3 at Kalamazoo on Dec. 17.

JACKALS SCORE FIRST AGAIN

Elmira scored first for the third-straight game on Monday, as the club now has three-straight first goals for the first time since Nov. 15 to 19. Prior to this stretch, the Jackals scored first just one time in 10 games from Nov. 25 to Dec. 16. Elmira has scored first 14 times in 2011-2012, with a 10-4-0-0 record when garnering the first goal.
