Michael Mariot to Rehab for IronPigs

Phillies RHP Michael Mariot - sidelined since Spring Training with a sprained right ankle -- is scheduled to continue a rehab assignment when the IronPigs host the Syracuse Chiefs at Coca-Cola Park tonight at 7:05 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.

Mariot, 27, began his rehab assignment on April 29 with Single-A Clearwater and has combined to go 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA in six games with Clearwater and Double-A Reading. The Phillies acquired Mariot off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on 11/30/15.

Mariot's 2015 season included a pair of stints with the World Champion Kansas City Royals (0-0, 3.00 ERA in 2 G) while spending most of the season in Triple-A Omaha (4-2, 2.32 ERA in 42 G). He logged 72 strikeouts in just 62 innings and also had an 18.2 innings scoreless streak over a 12-game stretch in Triple-A.

The West Hills, Calif. Native made his Major League debut with the Royals in 2014, going 1-0 with a 6.48 ERA in 17 relief appearances. Mariot was originally selected by the Royals in the 8th round of the 2010 draft out of the University of Nebraska where he was teammates with Cody Asche. In 19 career Major League appearances, he's gone 1-0 with a 6.11 ERA.
