Jason Bourgeois Returns to Knights

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - OF Jason Bourgeois, a member of the All Knights Stadium Team, was acquired by the Chicago White Sox in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks and assigned to the Charlotte Knights today. Bourgeois will take the roster spot of outfielder Michael Suiter, who was assigned back to Kannapolis today. Suiter did not appear in a game with the Knights after joining the team on Monday. Charlotte's roster currently consists of 25 active players.

Originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2000 draft out of Forest Brooks High School in Houston, TX., Bourgeois appeared in 211 games for the Knights over parts of two seasons (2007-2008). In 2007, he hit .311 with seven home runs, 34 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. The Texas native returned to the Knights a year later and hit .286 with nine home runs, five triples, 48 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. In 2013, the final season in the 24-year history of Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC, Bourgeois was named as the second baseman on the All Knights Stadium Team.

This season, the 34-year-old has appeared in 33 games with the Triple-A Reno Aces and hit .356 (37-for-104) with 13 runs scored, five doubles, two triples, nine RBIs, and five stolen bases. For his career, Bourgeois has compiled a .253 batting average over the course of eight major league seasons (317 games).

The Knights will continue their three-game series against the Rochester Red Wings tonight at 7:05 p.m. from BB&T Ballpark. Tuesday is Twitter Tuesday at the ballpark presented by BB&T.
