
McKenna and Wranglers Shutout Salmon Kings 3-0

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers (30-10-13, 73 points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (24-31-1, 49 points) 3-0 at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre on Saturday night. Las Vegas goalie Mike McKenna made 42 saves for his second straight shutout, as the Wranglers took five out of a possible six points in a three-game series at Victoria. McKenna stopped 22 shots in a 5-0 shutout of the Salmon Kings on Wednesday night to start the week. The second-year Wrangler goalie is now 16-3-6 with a league-leading 2.14 goals against average and a league-leading .934 save percentage. Wranglers' forwards Tyler Mosienko, Derek Edwardson and Steve Crampton each scored as Las Vegas concluded their six-game road trip with a 3-1-2 record. Las Vegas returns home to face the Idaho Steelheads at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday night.
In the first period, Las Vegas jumped out to a 2-0 lead despite getting outshot 16-9 by Victoria. Center Tyler Mosienko knocked in a rebound off a Nick Anderson shot at 6:12. Mosienko's 15th of the season came on the power play and gave Las Vegas the 1-0 lead. The Wranglers doubled their lead with their second power-play goal of the night at 15:56. Shawn Limpright worked the puck in behind the Victoria net to Derek Edwardson, who in turn centered out front for Steve Crampton. Camping out in the crease and redirecting the Edwardson pass, Crampton scored his 16th of the season for the 2-0 Las Vegas lead. Goalie Mike McKenna stopped all 16 shots he faced in the second period,
After a scoreless second period, Derek Edwardson scored his 17th goal of the season at 10:31 of the third period, Shawn Limpright and Steve Crampton set up the goal for the 3-0 lead. McKenna held on from their 16 saves in the third period for his fifth shutout of the season.
Las Vegas will return home on Tuesday, February 27th to host Idaho at 7:05 pm. After a game in Phoenix on Thursday, March 1st, the Wranglers will host the Roadrunners at 7:05 pm on Friday March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd. The first 2,000 fans to the game on Friday March 2nd receive a Wranglers Pint Glass, compliments of Integrity Jeep Chrysler Dodge. Also, fans may attend the Port of Subs Pre-Game Party from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the concourse of the Orleans Arena on Saturday, March 3rd.
The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
