Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Manitoba Moose and the Vancouver Canucks, met the Pacific division leaders for a rubber match at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to wrap up their two weeks at home. Victoria outshot Las Vegas in all three frames, but couldn't budge Netminder Mike McKenna as the Wranglers roped in the 3-0 victory.

McKenna deflected 16 Victoria shots in the first period as the Wranglers grabbed a 2-0 lead with two powerplay goals. Las Vegas moved the puck down low to the Victoria net, and with a few whacks at rebounds Tyler Mosienko netted his 16th goal of the season at 6:12 into the first. With 4:04 remaining, Steve Crampton earned his 16th goal of the season as he perched in front of Salmon Kings Goaltender Julien Ellis and capitalized on a pass from Derek Edwardson emerging from the left corner.

The Salmon Kings outshot the Wranglers 26-16 after two periods, but the visiting Nevada squad held the two-goal advantage heading into the final frame.

Las Vegas locked in the series win in the third period as Derek Edwardson notched his 17th goal of the season, left alone in the centre slot and finishing a Crampton pass from the right corner.

Final: 3-0 Wranglers

McKenna earned his second shutout of the series and his 16th win of the season, and Ellis suffered his 13th loss of the season. Victoria was 0 for 7 on the powerplay and Las Vegas was 2 for 5 with the man advantage. The Salmon Kings outshot the Wranglers 42-25.
